About the Latest Burnsland Website Graphics
Time for a Change. Again.
They say that the only constant is change. One example of that is the ever-changing Burnsland website graphics theme, which, of course, has changed once again. Just in case you are reading this after yet another change, here is the current (as of this writing) Burnsland header graphic:
For comparison, see some of the past versions of the previous graphic here and here.
If you have not guessed yet, the biggest change was replacing Mobius the Goat with Cartoon Steve. Sorry about that, Mobius. We still love you around here. But I started to think that Cartoon Steve might be a better representation of the site than Mobius. Again, nothing personal.
To accomplish that goal, I set about trying to find the right look for Cartoon Steve. Have you ever tried to draw yourself? It is interesting to think about how you see yourself versus how other people see you. Here are some sketch versions for your consideration:
There isn’t that much to work with, actually. A round head and glasses. But I did what I could with what I had. Of course, the middle version is what won out. And the upper left version is just a section of the middle version, the section that was used in the logo below:
In addition to replacing Mobius, which was the obvious change, I also took the Burnsland “B” out of the center of the circle. I had left it there with Mobius, but it became obvious to me that you couldn’t really tell what it was besides some lines coming out of, and going into, Cartoon Steve’s head. So it is not there anymore. And for the banner graphic up above, I changed the Burnsland circle color from white to yellow to go with the ocean theme better, too. That can change with the seasons, assuming I use this same graphic for some seasonal banners, which I intend to do.
If you check out those links of the previous graphics, I have not yet changed the 404 page graphic. So if you try to access a page that isn’t here, you still get Mobius. For now.
Also, if you want to see what a full-color Cartoon Steve looks like, here you go:
These website graphics are not quite exactly new, however. The new header graphic made its debut around two months ago. But I did not stop to say anything about it since that was right in the middle of the 2022 Disney Cruise Trip Report, and I did not want to slow down that momentum. So now you know…the rest of the story. Sorry, Paul Harvey.
As I said the last time the website graphics changed, what does the future hold? I still don’t know. I would expect Cartoon Steve to stick around for a while. He might even get a slight upgrade or redesign if I come up with another way to draw him. Or maybe not. Who knows?
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. - Psalm 145:3
About the Artwork
As with all of my artwork lately, this was created using the Procreate app and an Apple Pencil on my iPad. I like the ease of turning rough sketches into finished drawings without having to scan in something I drew on paper. Although I could do that if I ever did draw anything worthwhile on paper. But I usually just start with my iPad instead.
And yes, the “Burnsland Photography and Art” wording in the banner graphic is the same as the Mobius banners. I figured why should I mess with a good thing since it has worked so far? However, I do consider changing it up from time to time. Maybe sometime soon. Stay tuned.
