Fighting Fires A firefighter fighting fires is the latest in the People of Burnsland series in Steve’s Sketchbook.
Every community needs good firefighters. They are the kind of people that you hope never see action. If they are having to put out fires, that means that something is on fire, which is usually not good. But when they are needed, everyone definitely welcomes the firefighters, because at that time they provide a valuable service.
Round ‘Em Up! The People of Burnsland series from Steve’s Sketchbook continues with the Cowboy twirling his rope.
Every place needs a good cowboy. And this one is as good as they come. He knows horses, he knows cattle, and he knows how to get them to do what needs to be done, too. All while using his ultra-polite cowboy manners, just like Roy and Gene would do. But this guy is no movie cowboy, he is the real deal.
Keeping the Peace A policeman trying to control traffic is the next in the series of People of Burnsland from Steve’s Sketchbook.
If you remember, the Mayor of Burnsland kicked off the People of Burnsland series last week. This determined policeman is the next in the series. It takes good policemen to keep the peace and enforce the laws, and this guy is working hard to do all of that.
A Cast of Characters To give the artwork in Steve’s Sketchbook a bit of a theme, I thought it would be fun to develop a cast of characters. After mulling over a few ideas, I came up with a question. What if Burnsland were a place? What sort of characters would occupy it? And with that, I was off and running to create the People of Burnsland. Not the real people of Burnsland, which would be Laura, Jaylin, and me.
