Cartoon Steve tries to play cards, except that he is frustrated because he does not know how to play the game.
That seems to be the story of my, er, Cartoon Steve’s life, not knowing how to do what everyone else is doing. He isn’t too mad, actually. He is just frustrated trying to figure out what to do next.
Playing the Game This artwork was somewhat inspired by real life, sort of.
Cartoon Steve drives a tractor through an overgrown field to cut the grass. ‘Tis the grass cutting season, after all!
One day last week, I had planned to go out after work and start cutting the grass in the pasture. However, the weather had other plans, so I decided to postpone getting struck by lightning, I mean cutting grass. Because I had some extra time on my hands, I decided to draw a picture of cutting the grass since I could not actually cut the grass.
A picture of Steve drawing a picture, drawn by Steve, who evidently speaks of himself in the third person sometimes.
Sometimes, I (the aforementioned Steve) know right off what I want to draw. At other times, I have to think about what to draw. On this particular day, I was thinking, “What should I draw?” And then from somewhere inside of my strange brain, I thought, “I should draw a picture of me drawing a picture!
Around this time of year, the President of the United States will give the State of the Union address. And state governors will often give a State of the State address. But who cares about all of that boring political stuff? Why not something fun? So here is the State of Burnsland for 2023.
I even got all dressed up for the occasion. Like my suit? And how about that fancy podium and curtain backdrop?
Cartoon Steve tries to stay warm on a winter snow day in the latest artwork from Steve’s Sketchbook.
Winter Cartoon Steve is hardly recognizable here. He does (as of the time of this writing) also appear in winter garb in the header graphic up above. But because of the winter cold in this view he has pulled his cap down lower and added earmuffs and mittens, too. A guy has to do what he can to keep warm, after all.
The first day of Fall has arrived! Here’s hoping you have a great season ahead of you. Season changes are special. After all, they only happen four times a year.
Of course, some people start celebrating fall at the first of September, but that is not when the actual Autumnal Equinox occurs. At least, that is what the astronomers and meteorologists tell us. I have no way of knowing, so I am taking their word that it is actually today.
Time for a Change. Again. They say that the only constant is change. One example of that is the ever-changing Burnsland website graphics theme, which, of course, has changed once again. Just in case you are reading this after yet another change, here is the current (as of this writing) Burnsland header graphic:
For comparison, see some of the past versions of the previous graphic here and here.
If you have not guessed yet, the biggest change was replacing Mobius the Goat with Cartoon Steve.
