Palm Tree Island and Moon

The full moon rises above a palm tree island in the tropics somewhere. Although I do not know where this actually is.
I suppose you can add the moon to some of my “typical” art elements, joining palm trees, islands, and Tikis. Surprisingly, there is not a Tiki in this art, although there was one in another recent piece, which once again also included the moon. I think that after drawing lots of blue skies with clouds, I started to get tired of that and instead switched to the moon and a night sky. Will the pendulum swing back the other way to sunny skies? Maybe, maybe not.
Familiarity
We like things that are familiar to us. Familiarity equals comfort, and that is not a bad thing.
I like drawing palm trees and islands and moons and Tikis because they are familiar to me in that I know how to draw them. I may not draw them the same way every time, but I have a general plan in my head.
I go to the same restaurant often because I know that I like their food. And I know that the guys who work there usually know my order when I walk in the door, because they often tell it to me before I can say it. And I know it will all be good.
I like to go to places I have been before because I know I have had a good time there before, and I know what to expect.
Yes, there are definite benefits to going new places, trying new food, doing new things. It is good to expand and grow and learn.
But it is also good to have some familiar fallbacks when you need some comfort. That comfort can be a great blessing when you need it. Family, friends, home, a favorite restaurant, a fun previous experience. Don’t miss the blessings and comforts of familiarity in the constant search for something new.
You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. - Psalm 32:7 ESV

About the Artwork
Another Adobe Fresco piece with my iPad and Apple Pencil. I started with the same style as the recent Tiki art, but then I explored brushes and textures for the water and sky. After all, all of this art for me is just about having fun and trying new things. So I am always experimenting, while still drawing things that I like.
