A Tiki for Thanksgiving
A Tiki has borrowed a hat from a Pilgrim on a beautiful autumn day for the Thanksgiving season.
This Tiki is thankful to the Pilgrim for loaning him his hat on this sunny day, so perhaps the Tiki should look into getting a hat of his own. However, he is not quite sure what style his hat should be, so he is checking out his options.
And I am thankful for a Tiki return, since we have not seen any of them around here in a few months!
Thankful
I am thankful for Thanksgiving, which as you might know, comes in between Halloween and Christmas, although it often gets overlooked because there is not as much money to be made off of it. Being thankful for what you have is a hard sell for merchandisers, after all, but it is a good attitude to have.
I am also thankful for the love of family and friends. We are surrounded by a great community of love, and that is always a blessing.
Be a part of someone’s community of love by loving one another, and your own community of love will grow, too.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” - John 13:34-35 ESV
About the Artwork
It was time for something new, and this drawing is the result. I drew this using the Adobe Fresco app on my iPad, after having done the last several drawings in Clip Studio Paint. It was a slight challenge to learn something new, but for me the best way to learn is to dive right in and figure it out as you go.
One of the biggest benefits of Adobe Fresco is that it is now completely free to use. In some ways it is similar to Procreate, which I used for a good while. However, Procreate would limit the number of layers I could use based on the size of the drawing. I like high-resolution files1, and so I was always running out of layers. Fresco does not limit the number of layers, so that works well for me.
I am continuing to learn, but so far I have been impressed with Fresco.
Also, you might remember the Tiki of the Month drawings from a while back. While this is not necessarily the start of that again, it was nice to get back to something a little familiar. I wanted to focus a little more on learning Fresco for this, so going to something that was familiar helped with that. And I am sure this is not the last TIki that will appear here.

There is some slight irony there, because the main thing I do with these high-resolution drawings is share low-resolution web versions of them. But I have the higher resolution original files if I ever need them. ↩︎
