Mobius and His Camera

Mobius the Goat enjoys taking photos of nature and his surrounding with his camera as he is out among the trees in the forest. He just needs to turn around to see the great scenery behind him.

All the cool goats still use cameras instead of their phones, after all. Even if they have trouble pushing the shutter button and turning the dials with their hooves. But Mobius the Goat is definitely happy with his digital camera instead of using film. Getting the lids off of those film canisters was difficult!

Photography is one of my many hobbies. Art is another one. Hobbies are good. I recently saw a news story about a study showing that having a hobby that you spend time doing can help keep your mental functions going on longer in your life. Plus, hobbies can give you a release from stress by helping you focus your energy on things that you enjoy.

And there is nothing wrong with having more than one hobby, too. That can make you a more well-rounded person by having several interests. Many of my interests are somewhat interrelated, but that still creates a broader interest base than something just narrowly focused.

What if people were one of your hobbies? More specifically, showing love to people? How would that look?

For starters, you could do something simple like sending cards or making phone calls. I have known people whose personal ministry was sending birthday cards to everyone in church. Seemingly a simple thing, but it was very effective.

Or maybe it would look something like serving homeless and poor people. Or children’s homes. Volunteering at a hospital or library. Working in the church nursery or teaching a Bible class.

Anything to show love and give attention to other people would work. Especially if you are approaching it from the mindset of serving without expecting anything in return.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. - 1 John 4:11-12

Love One Another

About the Artwork

I have said many times that these Mobius the Goat pieces are not meant to be autobiographical. But when I look back on them, I start to think maybe some of them are. I either draw what I like, what I know, or what makes sense to me. So when I was thinking about what Mobius could be doing next, I thought, “Why not have him taking photos with his camera?”

This was the second illustration I created using Clip Studio Paint, with the Tiki at the Beach piece being the first. When you start something new, such as new software, it sometimes feels challenging to have to relearn what you already knew from the previous software. But I believe it will be worth it in the long run.
