The Love One Another Logo

The Love One Another logo lets you quickly know that a Burnsland website post is part of the 2024 theme of Love One Another. Creating the logo was also a bit of fun.

I wanted something eye-catching and easy to read. And circular, just because. Circles make the world go round. Because the world is round.

I wanted it to communicate “love” besides just having the word “love” on the logo. What do you think about when you hear “love”? If you think like me (sometimes I feel like I should apologize if you think like me), one of the first things you think of is hearts. Thank you, Valentine’s Day, for that image. So why not include a happy heart in the logo?

And of course, there has to be lots of red, too. Again, I would guess that Valentine’s Day is responsible for red being the color of love. Roses are red, after all. But then violets are blue, and we don’t associate blue with love. One of the mysteries of life, I suppose.

The other requirement was that the logo be scalable, so that you can see it well at a small size. That meant big words and a simple heart character. Nothing too elaborate or fancy.

When I put all of those ingredients together, I got what you see up above. Does it meet all the requirements? It does for me. And I hope it works for you, too. You can find the logo in each Love One Another individual post, as well as on the main Love One Another page. And then the logo also shows up in the sidebar to take you to that main page, too.

I hope all of that in at least some small way inspires you to Love One Another!

What Is Love?

All this talk about love brings up a fundamental question: What is love?

Some say that love is a feeling that you feel. It is a feeling much stronger than just liking something. It is an intense affection for something or someone.

Others say that love is an action, that it is something you do. You love someone by doing something for them, they say.

Maybe the answer is not either/or, but a combination of both. You can feel the feeling of love, but it really becomes real when you do something about it. And others know you love someone when you show that love by doing something for that person that you have those feelings for.

So don’t just say you love someone. Do something about it.

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. - 1 John 3:17-18

About the Artwork

By now you have hopefully seen this logo elsewhere on the Burnsland site if you are a regular visitor here. But I thought it would still be good to go into a little explanation about the logo. And besides, since I liked how it turned out, I felt it deserved a post of its own.

Also, this shows that I need to work on lettering some more. While this lettering serves the purpose, it could be better. Always room for improvement!
