Hot Springs National Park Poster
A travel poster promoting Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas.
Earlier, I had made a travel poster for Oʻahu after our 2023 Hawaiʻi Trip. At that time, I also thought about how it would be fun to create posters for some of the places that we visit. When we visited Hot Springs recently, I knew that would be a good poster subject, too.
There are several National Park posters out there, but I thought it would be good to add one more. So I did this somewhat in the style of National Park posters and somewhat in my own style, just to make it unique.
The large stone column pictured here has not shown up yet in the photos that I have posted from our trip, but that is coming in the near future, by the way. And this poster idea does not even include the famous bathhouses, which I could have included as well. Maybe a second version in the future would be a good idea? Hmmm.
Amazing Creation
I have said it many times in the past, but I will say it again: God’s creation is amazing. How else would you describe water coming right up out of the ground at 140 degrees? Amazing!
Yes, you could try to explain it by science. Water that fell as rain 4000 years ago has gradually seeped down through the layers of the earth until it reached a superheated area of the earth’s crust and is now pushed out through the springs. But how did all of that come to be? I firmly believe that it happens that way because God created it to happen that way.
And that same God that can create something as fascinating as hot springs of water loves you and me. He wants us to be his, if we will do his will. He loves us enough to have sent his only son to take our punishment for the wrong things that we have done, so that we can be made perfect and enter his holiness. And then he wants us to share that love with others, which seems like a small thing to do, considering all that he has done for us.
God, who creates amazing things, is love, and he wants us to be love, too.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. - 1 John 4:7-8
About the Artwork
I wanted this to look a little more traditionally poster-like than the Oʻahu poster. I used a muted color scheme, which is popular with National Park posters. And I gave it a paper texture, too, just to make it feel more poster-like.
