Burns Family Christmas Card 2024
The Burns Family Christmas Card has become a tradition for us, and we always try to do something unique and entertaining. See some of our past cards here.
Each year, I ask Laura for her idea for our card. We then take that idea and refine it just a little, but this year’s idea did not take too much refining, because it was good right from the start.
Due to all kinds of issues, such as getting a late start on our card and getting it to the printer later than usual, plus a delay in getting stamps, our cards were sent out a little later than usual this year, but they hopefully still arrived before Christmas, or maybe just after.
Here is our Christmas card for 2024:
One of our activities in 2024 was hiking with our hiking poles. So Laura came up with the idea of us and our hiking poles, climbing a mountain, which was also in the shape of a Christmas tree, made up of presents that were blessings to us through the year.
If you are wondering, here are what the different presents represent:
Travel - We went on several trips during 2024, some of them larger trips, and some of them smaller trips, but they were all good. Some are listed below, and others can be found at Adventures by Burnsland.
Healing - I had a not-so-pleasant adventure with skin cancer, but it all turned out well in the long run. Remember to Wear a Hat!
Panama - Laura and I went with a group from our church to Panama in October, which was an amazing experience. See some of our Panama 2024 posts.
Copper - Copper the beagle brings us much enjoyment, even when he wakes us up in the night with his barking.
Florida - Laura and I took our annual trip to Florida in July. Here are some of our adventures.
Indiana - Our friend Katie was in three shows in Warsaw, Indiana, over the summer, so we and the Riedels did some traveling, seeing lots of sights in Indiana and Kentucky, even including a National Park!
Hiking - We found lots of places to hike during the year, including a trip to see some Tennessee Waterfalls.
Work - Laura started a new part-time tutoring position. It started small in 2024, but it will hopefully grow in the future.
Bubba - Bubba the Wonder Horse is still going strong, and he will turn 34 years old in the New Year.
New Job/Old Job - After selling cars for a while (the old job), Jaylin started a new job as an installation specialist, which has him traveling all over.
Church - Our church is always a blessing to us. We do lots of things together, and it is always good.
Getaways - We went on fun getaways during the year, such as this one from back in the summer.
There were lots of other blessings during the year, too many to count. We hope that your year has been filled with blessings as well, and that the year ahead has even more blessings in store for you!
The Back
The back of our Christmas card has also become a tradition, complete with our reindeer friend. This year’s card was no different:
I was trying to figure out what to do with the Reindeer. I asked Laura, and she said, “Why not have the Reindeer have his hiking poles like us?” And so he does.
And then Laura said, “He also needs some hiking boots.” I handed her the iPad and pencil, and she drew him some boots. She also drew some holly leaves and berries to add to both sides of the card fo make it more interesting. This year’s art was even more collaborative than usual, which was great!
We always hope to spread a little joy and Christmas cheer with our cards each year. We never expect a card in return for those that we send, we just send them because we like to do it.
